#46. greta garbo in camille

how in the hell did greta garbo go all that way without winning an oscar? i am mystified by many actors not having received an award (obviously), but i mean greta garbo? catherine zeta-jones has one. jaime foxx has one. eminem has one. it's just not right. anyway, 1936 seemed to be garbo's year (after four nominations and no wins), chiefly due to her performance in camille, a heartbreaking rags-to-riches story about the poor marguerite gauthier who, essentially earning money for her looks, ends up as the high-society parisian dame camille, who falls in love with dashing armand (robert taylor).

*nominated for 1938 best actress oscar;
lost to luise rainer in the good earth

greatest line: you will never love me for thirty years.
