#58. danny aiello in do the right thing

one sweltering hot day, in the heart of brooklyn -- and in a predominantly black neighborhood -- sal goes to work with his two sons, the owner of a local pizzeria. one of his employees, mookie (spike lee), is black. the two have a completely colorblind boss-employee relationship, until the beliefs and behaviours of two black customers turn their shared restaurant and neighborhood into a hotbed of racism. one of the most controversial, yet important films of the last 25 years, aiello gives a strong and fearless performance as a simple man in a complicated world.
