a notable stage and small-screen comedic actress, huffman blew everybody away with her groundbreaking portrayal of bree osbourne, a modern-day, all-american man -- living as a woman. she is, all at once, fragile, angry, confused, reserved, unattached and vulnerable, dealing with a drug-addicted son she never knew she had, and a hysterically dysfunctional family. a great film all around.
*nominated for 2005 best actress oscar;
lost to reese witherspoon in walk the line (sucked)
greatest moment: relinquishing all inhibitions, huffman allows bree to break down (in a very ugly crying scene) after her therapist (the always excellent elizabeth pena) asks her if she has any regrets, now that she is anatomically female.
