perrine was a vegas showgirl before breaking into pictures in hollywood, and it didn't take long for bob fosse to come along and cast her in the role of honey bruce, wife of legendary shock-comic lenny bruce (dustin hoffman). honey becomes addicted to drugs and forfeits her parental rights to the couple's child once the two decide to go their separate ways, and as despicable as that seems, you can't help feeling sorry for her in every scene thenceforth. perrine won best actress at the cannes film festival for her role.
