#51. donald sutherland in ordinary people

a greatly underrated actor, sutherland owns this film as calvin jarrett, loving father and husband who, unlike his wife (see #52), is totally engrossed by feelings of remorse and love for both of his sons. sutherland has made many triumphant contributions to cinema, but this is by far his finest -- his greatest moment (below) is a superior example of distinguished acting by both sutherland and moore.
