tommy lee jones has gotten a bad rap. playing doolittle lynn in coal miner's daughter is just another example of how a good performance can be so completely overshadowed by a co-star's even better performance (sissy spacek as loretta lynn is one of the greatest performances of all time). when he won an oscar in 1994 for the fugitive, most thought it was undeserved, the academy's way of rewarding an exemplary career rather than for a great performance. if jones should have won an oscar, it was for this.
